Also called Vallota Speciosa and Scarborough Lily, this beautifull Amaryllis relative is native to the cape province of South Africa. I have been unable to get these for several years, and am delighted that obtained new bulbs in 2012. I do not know anything about this selection except it is red, and from the Netherlands. The picture is general and not specifically of this selection.
These bulbs are full size and most are making little offsets. The bulbs are perhaps 2 cm wide and 5 cm tall. Can be grown outside in zones 9+, or brought inside for the winter in colder areas. Plant shallowly in well drained soil.
