I made a trip to Australia because it was actually cheaper than shipping the bulbs airmail.  It was a great opportunity to see the land Down Under and make contact with bulb afectionados.

We aquired over 200 named varieties of Hippeastrum.  We are evaluating them and propagating the best.  The Maguires were very helpful and encouraging.  They gave me permission to propagate the bulbs and even use their pictures.  Their main goal is hybridizing new varieties and they don't want a larger company (ie more work).

In the bulbs we purchased, we have found many exciting new colors and traits.  Most of the Australian bulbs have some fragrance.  A larger percentage also have unusual spots and picotee patterns.
