Curcuma are a ginger relative native to southeast Asia. It takes drought, heat and humidity with equal ease. The long lasting flower spikes are sometimes called summer tulips. Each rhizome can produce up to 5 flowers. It prefers some shade.
Pictured is Pink Wonder the two gingers look similar but “Pink Surprise” has some white at the base.
Cold hardy in zones 7+. Move inside for winter in colder areas.
