Dutch Iris White Van Vliet is a classic bright white with yellow markings.
These are those wonderful iris you see in floral displays. They are perfect cut flowers and I LOVE EM! It really is tragic that these are not more common. The do best in a sunny area. They multiply very well and have flowered for me year after year with no care.
Zones 6-10 (maybe winter hardy to zone 5 if you plant them in a protected spot…in colder zones, plant in the spring)
Bulbs are 7-8 cm cir.
Plant pointy side up with approximately 3-4 inches of soil covering the top of the corm.
We start watering when it gets cool in the fall i.e. temperatures drop into the 60’s at night. Water deeply. Water should penetrate the soil so it stays moist between 6-12 inches deep. Moist not sopping wet. Once every 3 weeks should do it.
We had a winter were it stayed below freezing for a week and got as low as 5 degrees the dutch Iris did great..
Foliage comes up in the fall and the Iris grow thru the winter and bloom in the Spring. Dead head blooms for better flowering next year. Corms go dormant in the heat/dry of the summer. Let the foliage go completely yellow before removing
