Discovered by Scott Ogden, the famed Texan bulb Guru. The dark purple foliage makes a dramatic statement. Once established this will bloom in late spring and fall. This much sought-after crinum lily originated in 1983 as a cross of C. procerum ‘Splendens’ x an unknown C. bulbispermum (or hybrid). More winter hardy than other purple leafed Crinums.
Bulbs are in their second year from Tissue Culture. Their base is about an inch across. They won’t be full, blooming size for another couple of seasons, but the purple foliage makes an instant impression. Full size purple crinums of this quality have sold for hundreds of dollars.
