Ixia is another wonderful bulb from South Africa, closely related to sparaxis, freesia, and Gladiolus. Immagine an earlier, daintier version of gladiolus. Ixia grow about 2' tall but generally don't need to be staked. They can benefit by being interplanted with other plants for support. They can be planted in fall (in mild climates) or spring for early summer flowers. Plant shallowly in well drained soil. Take advantage of this great price! In hot climates these will wait until cool weather to grow.
Bulbs are naturally small, but full size (5+ cm in circumference)
