Orange Bottlebrush Ginger Lily

This is the gandasuli of India, a Sanskrit word meaning "the fragrance of the princess" or "the queen's perfume". Hedychium occur up to about 1,900 m in tropical and subtropical Asia, probably from the Himalayan foothills of Nepal east to China and south through Indochina.

Another form of Coccinea Species, tropical beauty produces graceful sprays of butterfly-like Orange Red flowers. Plants can grow up to 7 feet and leaves are very attractive--green with red stripes.

Sometimes call Hardy Ginger Lily, Hedychium Gingers are more cold hardy than most gingers, They put on a great show of flowers in the summer to early fall. Loves part-shade, heat, and moisture.

Cold hardy in zones 7+. Move inside for winter in colder areas.
